Mentoring

March 2009

GOOD IDEAS

The Mentoring team from Better Way Apostolic Church is scoring points with its client.  They have offered to watch two of her three daughters at a time so Mom can have some one-on-one time with each child.  Way to go!

When their client asked about help with dental work, The A Team went into investigation mode and found that Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry accepts patients who will receive dental treatment by students.  For more information, see www.tambcd.edu/resources/becomepatient.html

"It is a daunting and humbling task to accept that we may be able to influence a family to live more fully and find more meaning as they learn to trust themselves and the strength within them.

We look forward to working with you for the benefit of our families and know we will be enriched along the way."

-volunteer Linda White of First Congregational United Church of Christ

Hello Friends!

It’s been busy at the Family Pathfinders office with Darlene on maternity leave, so we’re grateful that Lorraine Braden of the University Christian Church team has volunteered to help in the office a couple of days each week.  Thank you, Lorraine!  We did get to see Baby Reagan this week, and she is indeed precious!

Cars, cars, cars!  What would life be like without them?  Sometimes I heartily welcome the opportunity to try out life without a car.  As many of you know, transportation can be a challenge for our clients, and people cut costs wherever they can, sometimes risking long term consequences for short term cost savings.  When money is tight, a car owner may decide to forego oil changes, inspections, insurance and registrations.  I encourage you to have a conversation with your client about his/her vehicle and its maintenance.  Together you can investigate ways to save money while keeping the vehicle legal and well maintained.

You are a blessing to a family in need.  Don’t ever doubt it!

Blessings, nbsp;
